The story of AudioEnz
Hi-Fi and home theatre commentary since 1986
AudioEnz has its origins back in the pre-web days of 1986. Back then, Michael Jones began a hi-fi magazine called AudioVideo.
AudioVideo ran for ten years, making it by far the most successful audio publication in New Zealand. It was well-named, with the realisation that audio and video would come together.
Part of the early coverage included writing about home theatre in 1987 (before the phrase "home theatre" was heard of!) and an early "almost entirely home theatre" issue that caused great controversy, as the public (and industry) expected articles on hi-fi.
Hi-Fi was the main thrust of AudioVideo, with a countless number of equipment reviews from a talented stable of writers, several of whom are still writing for AudioEnz.
In 1996, the magazine was restructured to become AudioEnz. A series of articles and reviews followed.
The year 2000 saw a further restructuring of AudioEnz, this time as a web site, free to all and constantly updated.
