Frustrating issue with Panasonic Plasma screen

    Hiya

I am wary of burn-in and have noticed that if I do not turn the telly off the AV input is displayed in the top left corner continuously. Is this a problem?

I can't find a setting to turn it off. Has anyone else found how to do it?

I've tried the setting that puts the telly in standby after 2 or 4 hours but it annoys the wife because it invariably pops up a message telling her to press ok now or it will turn off... I think she objects to its tone...

I've never had the input stay on screen either.

You mean when there's no signal being sent to the TV? Why don't you just turn it off?

It only stays on the screen when there's no signal being sent to the TV. Obviously, I would normally turn the tv off at this point. However, if I am not around, and the two year old is about (my wife is sure it can't be her...) this does not always happen and the tv might have that image in the top left burning into it for hours before someone notices.

The model is TH-P50X30Z - Yes, I know it is cheap arse but I really don't care too much about top quality moving pictures! Nevertheless, I would like it not to deteriorate further!

Try setting up the viera link so that when the connect device turns off the display turns off.

Hi Nigel - I looked into this and found it only works with Panasonic devices. Unfortunately, I don't have any other Panasonic devices!

Is there a Power Saving Mode?
Every modern set seems to have it.

Even my 5+ year old Pio has a feature that if no signal is detected after 'X' time it switches itself off.

And the cheap Sony in the kitchen will switch off with programme running through it unless the remote is used every 2 hours! That can be annoying actually....

Yeah - there is a auto standby feature but you're right -that feature is more annoying than useful as I don't tend to use the TV for anything but a monitor so the remote is usually only used to turn it on and off.
