What is the way to go for 6.1?
Dipoles or Bipoles? Dipoles on the sides? Bipoles on the back? Do these speakers make a difference compared to monopoles?

Cheers!

None of the above.

For discrete rear channels you want precise imaging (which is the whole point of having discrete rears) and not the diffuse effect that di/bi poles give.

Stick with direct radiators.

UNLESS you have enough physical space in your room to use a clock type speaker arrangement, with the speakers equidistant from the listener.

And I mean a LARGE room as most di/bi poles need at least 1m from room walls to perform at their best.

As Michael W says....stay with discreet speaker for rear centre.
