Watched Casino Royale on BD last night with a house full of friends. Was fantastic everyone commenting on the picture at 1080i. First real test of the Wharfdale Diamond 9 Package and passed with flying colours the PCM soundtrack is great.

Only one minor detail, The picture was letterboxed and I cant change the screen format (Zoom, Wide, Full etc) when its on 720P or 1080i dam you sony...

i had the same problem with my sony dvd player too before, but it was the other way around, can't do letterbox (4:3) when displaying 4:3 movie (stretch automatically to 16:9 format) unlike my pioneer which adjust automatically. then i found out that i just need to change 1 small setting in the player and voila, all is good. the thing is, sony can't re-adjust automatically, so you need to manually adjust to to suit the movie format. i can't remember exactly the setting that i changed but i could find out for you if you want. just let me know. =)

Another reason you cant zoom in may be the HDMI connection, it gives you fewer options in terms of picture resizing.
You will find this happening with other Blueray/HDDVD players aswell.
The S series does do High def very well and have to agree that Casino Royale is a great High Def title.
