My current system is:

Cd player : Arcam CD92
Turntable : Thorens 320 with Sumiko Bluepoint cartridge
Amp: McLaren 603/703
Speakers : ProAc Super Tablettes (modified)
Subwoofer : REL Strata 2
Interconnect Cables : Nordost Blue Heaven

How does it sound? To my ears and comparing to friends systems, it sounds transparent, crisp and clear with terrific vocal presentation. A friend's description is it sounds very "clean", perhaps too much so for him as he prefers his own system using floorstanding speakers, less detail but with a greater sense of scale. Everyone to their own I guess.

The most significant purchase was the little Proacs. At the time I listened to them alongside a pair of large Mirage floorstanders and to me the Proacs just had a magic the floorstander could not match. It was definitely a case of "size not being everything!"

However, as they are now about 16 years old I am rather curious to know how they would compare to the latest versions of the Tablette (reference 8/ ref 8 sig). Has loudspeaker technology improved markedly in that time? Do I feel an upgrade coming on!

In my opinion,no!

But it would be interesting to borrow some of the new ones, and see how they compare!
