Reminds me of scam I nearly got caught out on...
Advertised my Quad 77 system for $2500 (I think that's right, it was a few years ago). I was contacted by someone in the U.S who duly sent a bank cheque for $2500 USD!! along with the delivery details - they had a "shipping arrangement" with some local company.
I took the cheque to my bank to get it verified - sure enough, a fake. I think it cost $20 to get verified but it could have ended in tears, I must say it all looked legit. ;)

There's so many storyz out there were ppl have paid big dollars for high end stuff with the correct serial numbers etc but never received the goods. Sad when ppl part with their hard earned money to these dam scammers. Back home (south Africa) there's a nice way to handle the scammers;) never b able to use their computers again
