Hey everyone. Been a while since I been on here so hope everyone is well. I'm looking for a CHEAP USB to RCA tube D/A converter.

Not interested in solid state devices. Not interested in any amplification. Just need to take a signal from a PC, run it through some tubes and output RCA.

Any ideas?

Tube powered or just output stage? I use a maverick audio tube dac and it has a tube output stage, which has a subtle effect. The overall sound is quite relaxed, compared to CDP such as an arcam 192, or CA 640V2. Has a listenable headphone output and three digital inputs: USB/optical and digital coaxial.

However, my scene is distinctly solid state and analogue, so I'm sure other members here will offer you some better insights.

Very cheap. I.E. Less than a DacMagic Sir Neil

you would really be looking at the tubemagic as your only option. possibly the MHDTs or eastern electrics but they go from about $650-700 AU upwards

A Musical Fidelity V-Link (mine cost $139 imported from UK, though localprice is $199) would open up any number of Ebay DAC purchases. My own combination of Lite DAC60 with the V-link works stunningly well.
