A remastered version of "Ive got my own album to do"(Ron Wood) plays fine but wont rip with the same quality to my hard drive.I remember reading somewhere that this had happended at a certain time for a disc manufacturer. It sounds like alot of distortion in the higher frequencies.Any suggestions?

What are you using to rip it with? If on a PC then try a copy of (the free) EAC. On a Mac, try (the free) XLD.

Tried EAC and it came up with a read and sync error.

Some of the CD copy protection may do that.

Try ripping at a really slow speed. EAC also offers the option to check the drive you're ripping to. Can't remember if you can do it with a CD in the drive but perhaps look at this option too.

Have you tried cleaning it? A very gentle rub with a tissue can work wonders

I must have put 700 albums or so through dbPowerAmp, and at least 1 in 10 goes into slow re-reading of at least some of the disk. Sometimes stopping the rip and a quick clean can prevent the issue.

Poweramp compares ripped track checksums with several web sites, and lets you know if the rip was good - does EAC do that?.

Have cleaned laser and tried a slow read to no avail.Found this on line, they are referring to Be Bop Deluxe-"If you are/were an older BBD fan (aren't they all?), and you got your discs in Canada, I'll bet they're crap now. All my BBD discs were made at Disque Americ here and *they're all unrippable crap". They look perfectly pristine too. My only CDs out of a huge number that rotted, and all from the same factory in ~1990. Bummer. I didn't even realise this as they all apparently play properly in a CDP, it's when you go to rip them for "serious" other playback methods that you find the problems."I m thinking I have a similar problem (fortunately its the only disc that does it.)
