I got home last night after a great weekend away to find my Plinius 2100i off. My mother babysat the kids so I thought she might have turned it off. So I turned it on and after a second it starts making a very loud and annoying buzz (nothing through the speakers) so I turned it off again. I went to bed and this morning I have unplugged everything but the power cord and turned it on again. Same thing happend. :(
Any ideas on the problem and how I might fix it before the end of the week?

Loud buzzing from an amp is never good thing. You can check the fusses but i don't think that is problem.

The mains fuse is there to protect the amp. If the rail fuses are still OK then the mains fuse should be alive? In any case, fuses are only indicators of the problem.
Yup, call the ambulance.

Give it a good whack on the top..... that's what most techies do at 1st anyway I reckon.

Ha! The equivalent of rebooting the computer when something goes wrong with that??!!

Word of wisdom from The IT Crowd: "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"

Follow up - I sent my wee Plinny off for Aidan and co to look at. Aidan reckoned it was more than likely to be the capacitor on the relay rail, the fault causing the relay to switch on and off rapidly. That's what it turned out to be and after replacing the time delay capacitor (1 x 22uF 100V) and rail resistor (1 x 4k7 2W resistor) and testing, I got my amp back within a week. Great job, again, by Aidan and the Plinius team!
It may be just that absence has made the heart grow fonder but I could swear that music sounds much more lively than it did before and the imaging is much tighter...

It's a real advantage being able to get Plinius gear back to the manufacturer for servicing and/or repair. They did a good job on my amp too. I've got an MF amp I'd like to get serviced but it'd be cheaper to take it to the factory in England than to freight it there. Good to hear that your amp is home and back on song.
