I'm hearing whispers that the new edition will be the last.
Not surprising really

I can't remember the last time I purchased a Tone magazine. IMO the best mag around were the early issues of FFWD.

If thats true , its a bit sad , they certainly lost their way some time ago , and once it became a off-shoot of Mac magazine was when I stopped reading full-stop.
But it is a shame,

There's plenty of other media to take their place.

But who will blindly print press releases from NZ importers now?

Oh wait...

I'm not surprised if the rumour is true. I bought a copy a few months ago for the first time in ages and was shocked at how crap it was! It was never a mag that I could read cover to cover but I felt sorely ripped off as there were few pages that contained anything I wanted to read...

I feel sorry for the swimsuit models.

That's one less gig.

Good riddance too! - it was shit and read like an infomercial.

Yes... I was quoted in the latest (last?) issue and whilst one of the quotes was accurate, the other was embroidered a bit.... It could have been so good....

Brought it from time to time , with all due respect to the people who runs this site and the great knowledge that is gained in within the forums.

I think it's a shame when we loose a magazine which publishes local content and electronics products available in the NZ market.

There did seem to be a turning back to the audio recently but all too late maybe, if the rumours are true.
No joy in having the only (even slightly) audio related print mag disappear.

Once something is gone it is just... well.... gone.

Not really something to be celebrated even if it wasn't everyone's cup of tea.

It's such a pity, this is a magazine that had a great heritage. I have been getting it from the beginning and regretted renewing my subscription for 2 years back in January when the wheels had already come off. The "e-book" reviews had me frothing at the mouth (it's a fackin' book review - in a techo mag!), the total lack of reviews was just annoying.

Finally after years of wishing, my CRT started to bomb out so I was in the market for a new telly and a blu-ray player to boot. It's frustrating that we in NZ have a magazine that claims to be about hifi/home theatre but actually is about gadgets and gaming. Tone was not a place to go for information - like it used to be.

Good for Audioenz - these very pages are a great source of information! RIP Tone - you jumped the shark and it was really good while it lasted... I do hope that you can pull something out of the bag. Like a review of 2011 tv's, blu-ray players, receivers, amps, speakers - you know, the stuff you used to do...

I picked up the new magazine today... and my partner said:
"For a technology magazine, you'd think they'd have eMags like the other magazines you subscribe to".

Um... touche.

They do touch on NZ audio + turn tables though. Not reviews, just an overview.

It's official - Tone has pulled the pin.
I think there's a place for an eMag - and I reiterate that I'm surprised that Tone never went down that path. WhatHifi is A LOT cheaper when you subscribe to the digital editions, it just makes sense to me.

Losing the cover girls is what did them in.

A big part of production costs...
