It seamed like a looming disaster, but my much loved SA11 started spitting CDs back at me like they were sour gooseberries or something. At first a couple then about 90% of all of the cds that I played. I sent a quick email to my old buddy Graham in Tauranga. He put me on to a guy up here in Auckland called Warren Turley at WOT electrical. Upshot was that it was fixed, efficiently, and quickly. The stuffed laser was replaced, it didnt cost the earth and it is now merrily hoovering detail of all my CDs again

Highly recommended for any repairs of this type

I've had WOT check/fix a number of pieces of gear over the last 7 years and the experiences have always left me smiling. Highly recommended from me too

Looks like it may be the time for SA11's to fall over. Mine started to reject 99% of CDs. Local shop could not/would not fix it so was sent to current agents. They sent it back saying that itplays fine. First CD in - Bollicks, no better. Through the local shop it ended up in Auckland - dont know where - first laser was bad so had to wait some more for a replacement. Finally I have it back, fixed and sounding good again.
Wish I had known abou the repair guy above I most probably would have had a quicker urn roud and a cheaper repair.
Of interest this is the second Marrantz CDP I have had to have the laser replaced on. the other was a CD63KIS MKII. The odd thng is they both failed at 3-4 yearpoint in their lives. The CD63 laser was replaced in 2000 and did not miss a beat till I sold it in 2009. Hopefully I can expect a similar life for the laser in my SA11.

I'd be surprised if Warryn did it himself - not really his thing

I would say it was probably Mark Brumby doing speaker repairs, Audiomark as he is known to the Illuminati.

Oh...ok....anyways...whoever done it did a great job and forced me to sit inside out of the Sun enjoying my new speakers. My Vintage L100T's have finally been retired to other uses after 20years as my mains.
