I have a Well Tempered Amadeus and it has a small amount of motor noise. Anybody else found this and if so, who would be the best person to fix it?

Talk to your dealer?

Have done. He seemed to think it was normal. But I not too sure.

Can you describe the noise ?
Is it audible from your listening seat ?
My old WTT is dead silent, even with my ear up to the motor.

Hi
The noise was louder when the room was very cold, and I could hear it from my seat. After running for half and hour it reduced a lot. I took the belt off and spun the table, no noise and no noise from the motor. The noise comes when the motor is at correct speed. If I touch the table while spinning with the belt on, again the noise goes away. Crazy stuff. The noise is a low mer, mer, mer sound hard to put into words. Would do you think?

Sounds like an interaction with your shelf, what is it made from? Perhaps temporarily put something under the feet, just to see what happens?

Motor vibration, likely transferring into/through the plinth into airborne noise.
What does the dealer have to say?

Is it a DC or AC motor ? I had a similar issue when I changed to the DC motor on my gyro...

Hi
It has a DC motor. My deal said they have noisy motors. It was silent when I first had it. Thanks for all your suggestions, I'll try them and let you know.

Try encasing the motor in a sound absorbent casing. Michell make one for their motors. I got mine through Walrus in London.

From the description of no noise when the belt is not connected, try another belt.
Also check the rest of the table - plinth, platter, main bearing etc.

Hi
With all the pulling apart, pocking and proding it is alot better. I have a extra belt which came with it. I'll give it a go. Thanks to all.
