Hi guys,
Just wondering if it is possible to get a good turntable for $100. Just hope its sound is balanced and can tell the recording quality of each record. Cheers:o

Sure, you could easily find a starter t/t, maybe a suspended Sansui or entry-level Garrard for that. Neither will be that great, nor that bad, but you can get more out of most decks by upgrading cabling, feet and stylus and/or cartridge and by putting it on a good, solid support. But then, that tweak money may be better spent up front on a better deck.
These might be worth a look:

The Dual has a cart that accepts quite a range of stylii, so there's a thought.

Yes you can, but you have to get lucky. I got one of my SL-7s for around $140 and it makes a beautiful job as my lounge room headphone listener.
If you can afford $500, then the vintage world is wide open.

Haven't heard the others but the Dual 505 was my first "hifi" turntable, about $500 for the Deluxe wood version in the 80's.
These usually go for around the hundy mark +/- $50.
Yes, balanced and can tell the diff in recording quality, depending on cart (OM cart + generic no name stylus is prob worth $10 + $25 alone).

Even less than $100 perhaps, having said that you must be prepared to spend some $$ to get them up to scratch (ha ha - just made a wee joke).
