For my headphone rig I'm using a Macbook+DacMagic + Pearreaux SXH2+ Senn HD595. I'm thinking of adding a pair of bookshelf speakers in to the mix for occasional listening at modest levels.
Would the Perreaux have enough oomph to drive an efficient pair of speakers using its unbalanced outs? Or would I be better off treating it as a preamp and buying some active speakers?
Another option would be to use the balanced outs from the DacMagic and go directly to a pair of active speakers. I personally find the DacMagic a little thin these days but as I said this is primarily my headphone set-up so I'd like to keep it in there for now.
Cheers :)
