View Full Version : Advice needed on network player options

I've been running a Squeezebox Duet for the past 2-3 years. I run mainly FLAC encoded CDs through an old Audiolab 8000a into a pair of Snell Type JIIs. The sound is not bad but could obviously be improved. I had been looking at adding a DAC to the mix (rDAC, Rega, DAC Magic, etc.) but I am getting more and more annoyed at the connectivity problems I am experiencing with the Duet and I am now thinking about replacing the Duet with another network player.

I have previously auditioned the NaimUniti but frankly I was a bit underwhelmed. My latest thought is to add an Audiolab 8002 CDQ to the mix - it's just had a great write-up in HiFi World. This would mean that I couldn't access internet radio which I listen to quite a bit but I could probably persevere with the Duet just for this.

Just wondering if anyone had any other options that might work for me? My budget is about the price of the 8002 CDQ i.e. about $2500.

Thanks in advance.

Another option....replace Audiolab with Perreaux Audiant.

Actually a mac mini would be just the ticket, controlled by an iPod Touch or your iPhone.
