Is it remotely possible to connect an Ipod Touch (gen 3) to my Stello U2 USB/S-PDIF converter?
Was considering buying a $900 base-model Mac Mini as a music server and connecting that to the U2. But looking for a cheaper option!
Any advice appreciated.

not sure but will a cable as such
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002VVSDSW/ref=asc_df_B002VVSDSW1687028?smid=A2IX3RNQE846HA&tag=nextagusmp0427690-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B002VVSDSW
and then get an apple tv which uses hdmi out, into this cable, and the usb of this cable into the input on you usb converter?

Apologies in advance if this is inappropriate: I have a 2009 mini, currently unused and boxed in our study. I had popped an SSD and 8Gb RAM into it, and it made a fine music server. I still have the 8Gb RAM, but have repurposed the SSD. If you still want to go down that (to my mind more flexible, but then I would say that...) route, I'd be happy to negotiate a reasonable price.
I'm on the Shore if you'd like to take a look.
It sounded pretty fine with a M2Tech HiFace, I'm sure it'd sound very good with the Stello. Other than that, I think you're looking at one of the Cambridge or Wadia docks - I think the former are around $450 or so?
Cheers

The Wadia dock bypasses the dac in the Ipod, which is just what you want
Then you would feed coax into the Stello
I don't know if the Cambridge does the same thing - the manufacturers had to license technology from Apple to achieve it.

Many thanks to all replies; John, may consider your offer. Will do a quick spec search first on that model.
