A client in Auckland has the above mentioned CDP running off a pitifull step down transformer.

Assuming that this CDP's transformer has split primary windings, where would be a good place in Auckland to take it to have it reconfigured for use on 230V?

He's based on the North Shore.

Cheers.

Clarry or Warren Turley, off top of head.

However, the Service Manual (http://www.raylectronics.nl/) lists separate MTX part no's for different mains voltages :(

Ray's website looks very useful so I've bookmarked for future reference.

Looks like my guy is stuck with having to use a step down transformer then.

Thanks Owen.

A lot depends on how the transformer has been constructed. If it is simple bolt-together laminations, it can be pulled apart reasonably easily and have the primary re-wound. If it has been spot welded (as many cheaper transformers seem to be) it gets a little more complicated and becomes uneconomic to rewind. Often, having a new one wound from scratch is the most economic option. Transformer Specialties in Massey can do this, or I can also recommend Murray Dick, if he is still around - I have not seen him for some years.
